Making dessert

I was at a family gathering including people who have been deceased for many years.  We wanted to make something special for everybody so I got the task of making dessert.  It was a combination of cake and pudding.  Ingredients included black olives and walnuts that had the skin removed.  I was under the supervision of a chef.  He had me cut the ingredients very fine then mix them so that the black part was on the bottom of the mixture.  I asked him what the purpose of making this was and he said so that every bite would taste exactly like the bite before and after.  I thought to myself better to not mix it so every bite would be new and exciting.
